I’m Pip and I was lucky enough to join the #BETTALife team earlier this year!! An opportunity that I’m super excited about!! 😁
For my first blog I thought I’d introduce my neddies to you all (the important bit!!)🦄❤️…
Unfortunately it’s not been the smoothest start to the year for us, my main ride “Roo” was all set to roll after a fantastic winter’s training with both Regional Qualifications and Winter Championships entries in… and then she managed to tread on a nail which put a huge spanner in things!! 🤦♀️🤷♀️ In true ginger fashion it has indeed resulted in a significant period of time on the sidelines!! She is now coming back into work with the help of BETTALife’s PharmaQuin and the appropriate physio!! Soooo watch this space… she’ll hopefully be back out in the not so distant future.
Roo (aka Donatella IV) is a tiny 15.2hh (on her tiptoes!!) chestnut mare by Don Schufro – she is working at small tour level and we got our first few PSGs under her belt last year! We did wildcard for Hartpury but unfortunately didn’t make it… so the plan is to try again for next year!! 💪 We will see how her work progresses but once she is back out and confident again the aim is to have a bash at an Inter 1 at some point this year 🤞😁 She is dubbed the “pony horse” by our trainer, Michael Eilberg, but although she is small in stature she never actually read that memo, what she lacks in size she totally makes up for in heart, I don’t think I’ll ever ride a horse that tries as hard for you as she does!! She is owned by her breeder, Jan Palmer, and I am so so incredibly lucky to have her support too.
At the end of January this year Roo gained a brother… not that she is entirely impressed at the idea… Along came Frodo!! 🦄 Polar opposite to Roo, Frodo is a full up 17hh, rising 6yo gelding by Fidertanz. A very gentle giant!! He was a late starter in life and is going to be given plenty of time to allow him to continue growing and developing. He is yet to make his competition debut, we are taking our time to get to know each other and really focus on his training but I absolutely adore him already. I’m quietly excited about the future with him, he is hopefully going to be quite a special chap 🤞😍🦄 He has the energy and ‘go’ of a Duracell bunny and the affection of the kindest Labrador puppy you could find!! Look out for updates on him later this year!!
So this year’s original plans have been a little scuppered but that’s totally the nature of horses at times 🙄🤷♀️ We are busy working away on some revised ones and will hopefully be out doing the #BETTALife team proud soon 💪😁 Hope you all enjoyed reading and ‘meeting the ponies’…
