We’re Proud to Support Clean Sport

If you’re looking to compete your horse this season, you need to make sure you’re not accidentally breaking any rules when it comes to their feed and supplements.

It’s very important that if you’re competing (whether that’s locally, nationally or internationally) that you understand the rules about anti-doping. Clean Sport is an anti-doping programme to protect fair play of the sport as well as the health and welfare of the human and equine athlete.

All BETTALIFE® products support the Clean Sport initiative, meaning the whole range is, and always will be, completely safe for competition use! None of our products contain any banned substances and are regularly batch tested to ensure purity, offering only the highest quality products to our customers.

These are our top tips for in the feed room so you’re not inadvertently breaking any rules:

  • Assign and label feed buckets so each horse is always fed from their own bucket
  • Don’t mix stirrers as prohibited substances can stick to the stirrer and contaminate feed
  • Have special buckets and stirrers for medication such as bute so everyone on the yard knows to be careful with it
  • Always check the ingredients list of new products for banned or controlled ingredients
  • Store feed carefully, and keep supplement container lids safely closed – certain types of mould can result in the production of naturally occurring prohibited substances
  • Wear gloves and thoroughly wash hands after handling human or animal medication
  • Keep the coffee out the feed room – caffeine is a banned substance and accidental spillage making feeds can get you in big trouble
