Meet the Lincoln Equestrian Team

We’re delighted to announce our support of the University of Lincoln Equestrian Team! Find out more about the team below.

Beth Fewings – Team Captain (@bethfewings / @bf.eventing)

Hi, I’m Beth & I’m a Bioveterinary science student. I’m super excited to be the team captain this year and on the BUCS A team for the third year. I have been riding for 10 years & currently compete my own horse up to 110cm and BD Novice dressage. We mainly focus on eventing, however we are now starting to turn our hoof to the dressage world to progress up through the levels alongside some show jumping & eventing. Throughout the years I’ve been to various team & individual championships as well as placing 8th at Hickstead NSEA Team champs. After a super successful BUCS season in 19/20 and the lack of a season in 20/21 i’m super excited to get back out to some BUCS competitions.

I compete at Young Rider(Prix St George) level in Dressage and am part of the Sport England Funded BD National Academy 2021. Last year I competed internationally for GB at Junior level. This is my first time on the team and I’m really excited to see what the future holds!

Lauren Mavin (@laurenmavinn / @laurenmequine)

Hello!! My name is Lauren Mavin; I’m a final year law student. I’ve been lucky enough to compete at BE100 and produce young horses for low-level competition. While not at University, I work freelance at various hunt, dressage and event yards. I’m so excited for this year, and I am excited to compete and train with this team!! Here’s to a great year!

Megan Devonport (@megandevonport / @megan_devonport)

Hey, my names Megan and I’m so chuffed to be on the team. I’m in my final year of uni studying Criminology. On ponies I mainly did dressage and low level eventing, where I received 5 national titles before converting to full eventing in 2016, where I’ve evented upto BE Novice.  When I’m not competing, I teach and ride freelance, which I totally love. This is my first year on BUCS and I’m so excited for the training and competitions

Off To A Great Start!!

We had our first competition at Trent Valley Equestrian Centre on Friday, hosted by University of Nottingham. We had a super day and all the team rode incredibly well, it was a very tough and tight competition but we came away with a Team 2nd (with Nottingham in 1st, Nottingham Trent 3rd and Chester 4th). This is a massive achievement for us to place higher than Nottingham Trent as they are always a very strong and competitive team (who train at Trent Valley more frequently than ourselves so get more opportunities to practice on the horses!). We are absolutely chuffed with the results and to top the day off we had a number of individual placings as well:

Ellie Roberts smashed the whole day to take the win, which is an incredible achievement. Scoring 75% in dressage!

Myself (Beth Fewings) placed 4th and Megan Devonport placed =6th.

Within the dressage phase we had a 1st place on their horse and a 2nd place on their horse and in the show jumping we had a 1st place on their horse and three 2nd places on their horses. So overall an extremely successful day and a brilliant way to kick starting the season. We’re super excited for the next competition, which is our home hosting competition and takes place on 8th December at Riseholme College.
